As per the WEEE regulations, dickbray’s will take back Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) from members of the public ‘free of charge’. At dickbray’s we take all our environmental obligations seriously and comply with all such legislation. These regulations are designed to promote the recovery of waste electrical and electronic equipment. They will facilitate in particular the achievement of the targets for the collection, treatment, recovery and disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment in an environmentally sound manner as established by the directive. The regulations impose obligations on persons who supply electrical and electronic equipment to the Irish market whether as retailers, importers or manufacturers.
HOW DOES WEEE WORK?
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is taken back free of charge on a one for one, like for like basis. Waste batteries including rechargable batteries are taken back free of charge. You are not obliged to make any purchase when returning old batteries. Each local authority must also accept household WEEE and small batteries free of charge at its recycling facilities. All WEEE and waste batteries must be recycled and should not be placed in any of your household wheelie bins. Make sure you always recycle your old electrical goods and batteries.
‘Takeback’ is on a one-for-one basis only and the product must be of a similar type or have performed the same function as the new item purchased. For example if you are buying a new drill we will take back your old drill free of charge and ensure that it is disposed of in an environmentally correct manner.
